An Epic Adventure That Pulls Readers of All Ages In

The Battle of Evermore by Jordan Jones is the kind of book that reminds you why stories matter- especially for young readers who are just discovering the magic of getting lost in a world beyond their own.
I read this book alongside an 11-year-old, and he absolutely devoured it. He was hooked by the action, the suspense, and the vivid world-building, and he couldn’t wait to talk about the characters and what he thought would happen next. That alone speaks volumes—but as an adult reader, I was impressed too.
While this is clearly a book young adults will love, adult readers will find plenty to appreciate as well. The writing is clean and confident, the world-building is thoughtful without being overcomplicated, and the themes of courage, loyalty, and choice are handled with care and clarity. It’s the kind of story adults can genuinely enjoy reading with kids—or even on their own—without feeling like they’re pushing through something just to get to the end.
Jones creates a rich, imaginative setting filled with high stakes, clear heroes, and meaningful challenges. The pacing is spot-on for middle-grade readers: fast enough to keep pages turning, but grounded enough to let the story and characters breathe. There’s a wonderful balance of adventure, heart, and momentum that makes the story accessible while still feeling substantial.
What stood out most is how confidently this book meets readers where they are—respecting young readers’ intelligence while also offering adults a well-crafted, engaging fantasy experience. This is the kind of novel kids recommend to their friends and adults are happy to recommend to families.
If you’re looking for a captivating fantasy adventure that works across generations, The Battle of Evermore is a fantastic choice. Jordan Jones is a storyteller to watch.

WOW! This story is AMAZING! I could not put it down. The epic tale of "Light" vs "Darkness" as told by Jordan Jones truly creates a mental movie in one's head following the story from start to finish. I cannot recommend this book enough for everyone to read. If you liked the likes of Tolkien and other such stories, I believe you will love this story as well.

A great first book from Jordan Jones. A wonderful story of a young man's growth into a strong leader. He is kind when others are cruel and shows mercy when others choose violence. Can't wait for the next part of the story.

I haven’t picked up a book since high school, but this one immediately pulled me in! The writing is smooth, creative, and easy to follow, and the fantasy world is full of imagination. Unlike other books I’ve tried, this one really holds my attention.i actually find myself excited to get back to it and see where the story goes next. It’s a unique and captivating read, and I can already tell it’s going to be a great adventure. Highly recommend for anyone who loves fantasy or just wants a story that keeps you hooked from the start!

Caelan Redbrook, the prophesied seventh son of a seventh son, is a hero you can root for, and the supporting cast—elves, dwarves, and fearsome beasts—make the journey unforgettable. This book is made for the young wizard at heart, perfect to keep the preteen reading level onto the path to the rabbit hole of fantasy and mystique. Quick reader for us grown ups and still such a great story! I’m planning to add to my at home reading list for home schooling.

Fast Paced Old School Fantasy with Potential to be an Epic

The lore building is fast, poetic, and solid. One thing that loses me in a lot of fantasy is an over wordiness. You can hear Jones background in music from the punchiness of the dialogues and the carefully chosen words. Jones got it right. The prologue and setup are just enough to get into a fast paced fantasy story. The settings are magical and there is some good world building. I can't wait to read Scroll Two. Keep up the great work!

I was gutted when woodveil burned. Magus is an epic villain, and Caelan a quickly growing but not over powered hero. I love the idea of a human raised by dwarves, so An'Dwar is probably my favorite character.
